Hi to you as we are now in July as you know!
What can I share with you this month?
Keeping warm, nice hot soup that sort of thing, thinking enriching thoughts and feeling safe in our world!
So how are you looking after yourself?
What does time out and peace and calm look like for you?
Do you give yourself time away from your work and leave home for a few days or a longer break?
What are the nourishing foods that you feed yourself with?
How many meals do you make each week for yourself?
What do you have for your breakfast, and do you give yourself the time to enjoy?
And what does your lunch time look like?
And your evening meals consist of?
I love that I was bought up on the land where we had plenty of room to spread out in many ways. Paddocks to walk, run, play then eventually learn to drive in and work for Dad in. And around the house a beautiful garden and veggies growing near one of the large water tanks. I remember the soil being dark, rich, moist with worms a plenty and bode well for growing herbs and veggies and around the house flowers and fruit trees and shurbs.
A takeaway was rare and not something Mum wanted to indulge in as the nutritional value was not where she would’ve liked it. She might make a salad if we had fish and chips. But it just wasn’t something that she or Dad wanted to have often. Going out for a meal at a restaurant was on the odd occasion and was treated with reverence and great excitement, that it was a treat and often of celebration and the food was usually pretty good.
I really enjoy soaking beans or lentils in readiness to cook and then put in with a soup or amongst a salad or curry or whatever recipe I choose to make.
I enjoy making food and sharing with a friend and most Saturday nights I do just that. Along with a healthy desert as well each meal feels as exciting as Christmas as it is filled with natural flavours and with great conversation. We then watch a movie or a series and share a cuppa tea. It’s always a great night.
Last Saturday night I was with my brother and several of his and his wife’s friends at their home. Where all contributed food wise and thus we shared a meal around the big table and then watched a film of one of Billy Joels concerts. I’m not really a big fan of his but I do appreciate his work, and it was a good concert. It was comforting to hear old songs played and one of the guys in his band was, from Adelaide!
Billy Joel certainly is a very talented musician. My brother loves his music and he played the piano well himself in times gone by and been in a couple of bands himself. Growing up in a house with instruments being played was awesome. I loved listening to him play the piano and he was clever, fluent and an obvious natural talent. But with accidents and life moving on where he can no longer play the piano now opens the door to other ways of sharing in the excitement of his creativity.
Being with good friends and family is important and to factor it in even if you’re busy will uplift us all. What can each bring along to share? Make it work, that it is important to share and love one another and to be able to have a good laugh. Keeping things simple and staying away from gossip and being a victim is good practice for feeling great about life. We build trust, honesty and ultimately love and respect for one another.
It’s time to honour our inner self the part of us than can feel neglected and gets caught up in crazy mind stories that most of the time are not true.
So, with grounding, walking, eating good nourishing healthy foods, good friends and family, meditation, exercise and if you have a spiritual practice all the better for it and great views wither around you or through travels. These are the great things in life that support us. It’s big times on many levels so be gentle be kind and if you need a hand with any emotional upheaval I have am here to assist you.
Lots of love. Angela
